Cave Stories

Students began this unit by talking about stories.  What are stories?  Who tells them?  Why do we tell them?  They then had the challenge of telling a story with no words- drawing a picture!  We then shared some drawings in front of the room and guessed what story they were about!

We then looked at some images from the first artists, cave artists!  What stories were they telling?  What can we learn about them from their art?  Students then pretended they were cave people and drew on their cave walls.  They also experimented with rocks, sticks, paint and charcoal to make images

Students completed this investigation by making their own cave inspired art.  Some students pretended they were cave people and drew stories from the past, while others drew stories of what would happen if cave people could time travel!
